Our History

Curiously, at first glance, the firm has its roots in a small practice based in the resort town of Kariba, in the north-western corner of Zimbabwe, about 300 kilometres from Harare.

This firm was the debt collector for a hospitality concern owned by Gerald Mlotshwa, then employed as a lawyer and company secretary in the country’s banking sector.

Out of this relationship was born the idea of establishing a Harare office, which opened its doors for practice in November, 2004 in a single room, with a single desk on the second floor of a building situated in a shopping area many miles from Harare’s CBD.

Notwithstanding that the building had no electricity or water (the previous tenant having long absconded, leaving behind a huge unsettled utilities bill), the premises were somewhat ambitiously termed ‘Corporate & Financial Law Chambers’.

Thankfully, if not mercifully, following the early 2005 move to the prestigious award winning Eastgate offices in the heart of the CBD, the firm's premises were referred to the more appropriate title of ‘Titan Law Chambers’; inspired in part, by Ron Chernow’s bestselling biography titled, ‘Titan’, about John D Rockefeller, Sr.

Today, seven years later, we consider ourselves a fairly well established medium sized practice that is able to compete with the larger and longer established firms in Harare.

No doubt, we will keep growing in Harare and beyond. Our journey, far from complete, mirrors closely the tale of Zimbabwe, and its ongoing renaissance as one of Africa’s economic powerhouses.

Just as Rockefeller was ruthlessly single-minded in his pursuit of wealth, we too remain just as focused in respect of our quest to be the very best at what we do, always and without excuse, for the benefit of our clients.
